This scene shows a character with a double ground shadow, and a palette which interpolates as the character moves in and out of the spotlight.

The clown and shadow are a Group node, which contains:

• A character:

• It is inked and painted with a palette

• The palette interpolates between 2 palettes: i.e. from dark to light, and back to dark.

• A second instance of the Ink&Paint node, which creates the ground shadows:

• The Ink&Paint node is linked through a Silhouette node to give a black silhouette, rather than a colored version of the character

• This is linked to a Color Correction node, a Blur node, and an Opacity node. These nodes create a bluish, soft edged, semi-transparent shadow.

• The final link is to a Shear Transform node, which distorts the original character into a suitable ground shadow shape.

• A second Shear Transform node gives a second - and different - distorted ground shadow.

The group is matted to an inverse matte of the poles in the foreground. This means that everything in the group appears behind the poles.
